The cold, dark nights are starting to look magical at this time of year, with festive twinkling lights brightening up many homes and High Streets in December. Finding your clothes a little tight after indulging in mince pies and Christmas pudding (topped with brandy butter)? Work off the calories with a few rounds in the ice-skating rinks.
25th November – 2nd January 2011 – Lincoln on Ice, Lincoln
Lincoln is transformed into a winter wonderland with the addition of an ice rink in the centre of town. Get your skates on and enjoy a day around the rink, and warm up with a panto performance afterwards, at the Lincoln Drill Hall. Tickets can be bought online, or at the ticket off.
3rd – 8th December – Clothes Show Live, NEC Birmingham
Not quite sure what to wear to your office Christmas party? Get some inspiration from this popular fashion extravaganza. Fashion gurus Caryn Franklin and Gok Wan will be appearing at the show, while boyband Inju5tice provides the entertainment. Pick up some fancy footwork at the Dance Show, and enjoy spectacular performances by talented dancers.
18th December – Santa Skate, London
Think Santa only gets about using his sleigh and a team of reindeers? Well, think again, as Santa has found an alternative mode of transport. Santa Skate sees up to 500 people dressed as up as Santas of all shapes and sizes skating their way through Central London. The fun starts at Hyde Park Corner, and goes through some of London’s most popular sights, with a break at Trafalgar Square.
