Breaks In Alicante – Alicante Hotels
Posted April 7, 2010 by BookingBuddy
If you’re in need of a healthy dose of sunshine, then book
yourself a cheap flight to the Mediterranean climes of Alicante and take a break.
This beautiful city has been welcoming visitors to its shores for over a
thousand years, and its gorgeous scenery and astounding architecture continues
to be a big draw for tourists today. The city has a pleasant cosmopolitan feel
to it, and the large student population helps make it a lively centre, with exciting
nightlife all year round.
See
Tabarca – This tiny island off the coast of Alicante may seem like a sleepy fishing village these days, but it hides an exciting past as a former hideaway for pirates. These days, you’ll more likely to ruin into hordes of tourists on a day trip from the city, here to enjoy the island’s restaurants and tranquil, crystal-clear waters. The west of the island has a church and some walls, left over from the days when the island was fortified and used as a lookout.
Eat
Nou Manolin – A local favourite, this lively bar and restaurant has gained quite a reputation for itself over the last few decades. The bar area is usually busy, but you’ll need to head upstairs for the real action. The crowded restaurant is famous for its variety of tasty tapas dishes – try the garlic prawns, or deep-fried anchovies. Treat yourself to some of Alicante’s wonderfully fresh seafood here – perhaps some fish cooked in a salt crust, some stew, or one of the many paella dishes.
Stay
Hesperia Alicante – Located a little way away from the centre of Alicante, this hotel provides you with peace and tranquillity, as well as wonderful views over gold course. The lush hotel grounds are filled with carefully landscaped trees, and you’ll even find some peacocks wandering freely around! The rooms themselves are spacious, and decorated in soothing, neutral tones, perfect relaxing in. Treat yourself to the buffet breakfast before starting on the rest of your day. It’s a huge spread of succulent fruits, crunchy cereals, and much more, to help you start your day in style. Room rates start at around £70.
