A touch of spring is definitely in the air these days! For those of you who’ve been hibernating under your duvets for the last three months, March is the perfect time to come out and face the world. The end of daylight savings time means that you lose an hour’s sleep on the last weekend of the month, but with so many festivals and events going on, who wants to spend that much time in bed anyway?
11th – 14th March – Crufts, Birmingham
Birmingham goes to the dogs once again, as the annual dog show takes place at the NEC once again. Dog owners and dog lovers from all over the country take over the arena for the weekend as they pit their pedigreed pups against each other, for the chance to walk away with the title of ‘Best In Show’. It’s not all just parading poodles, the various halls also feature a wide range of trade stands, for everything your pampered pooch requires.
17th March – St. Patrick’s Day, across the UK
It’s time to bring out your favourite ‘Kiss Me, I’m Irish’ t-shirt and party with a giant foam shamrock this weekend. St. Patrick’s Day events take place all over the country. There will be an extravagant celebration in Trafalgar Square, with a mass of floats parading through the centre of the city. The St. Patrick’s Festival in Dublin will be a feast of visual art, music and comedy performances, and parades. If all this is too much for you, head on down to the pub and celebrate with a pint of Guinness instead.
26th – 28th March – Chocolate Festival, London
It’s a chocolate festival, need I say more? This celebration of everyone’s favourite dark matter takes place at the Southbank Centre. Chocolates will be able to not just feast on the magical beans, but learn about its’ production and various uses. Chefs will demonstrate their favourite chocolate recipes, and most importantly, you’ll be able to participate in the chocolate-tasting events!
